Everything is illuminated.

The book for this has been sitting next to my bed for the last six months and its been killing me not to read it. I'm saving it up for my plane trip so I don't suddenly decide to hijack the plane from boredom. I've already read one of Jonathan Safran Foer's books before, extremely loud and incredibly close, which was pretty damn good and this is the one that got some of the most publicity so i'm expecting perfection Mr Foer.
Song is How It Ends- DeVotchka.

Dead people who I want to meet.

It's that simple. Thank you Kelly for this idea. I got to it first. Nyeh.

1. James Dean. Absolute babe and complete teenage angst role model.

2. Marilyn Monroe. Just because she's Marilyn Monroe.

3. Albert Einstein. Come on he was a genius beatnik.

4. River Phoenix. Thank you Michi for telling me about this spectacular man. Plus, before his family changed their last name, his name was River Bottom (!)

5.Heath Ledger. Recent, yes, but he was utterly beautiful and very modest(he was disgusted at himself when he looked at himself in movies)

6. Elliot Smith. Wonderful musician. Lovely lyrics.

7. Marie Antoinette. I just love everything she did. Such a rock star.

8. George Harrison. Within you without you is the absolute best and he was one of the over looked Beatles.

9. Jeff Buckley. Beautiful man and amazing voice. His songs give me shivers.

10. Cassie from Skins. I class a fictional character on a show that is complete to be dead. Therefore she is dead. Therefore she is on my list. I love Cassie.

I love Frankie posters.

"Can we? Shall we? One day very soon, let us go away together just you and me. Can we? Shall we? Call in sick one day and travel to the sea and hold hands all day. Can we? Shall we? Eat our sandwiches on the train, get drunk on fresh air and come home tired and never tell anyone… Ever."

Everything is Illuminated

The following encyclopedia of sadness was found on the body of Brod D. The original 613 sadnesses, written in her diary, corresponded to the 613 commandments of our (not their) Torah. Shown below is what was salvageable after Brod was recovered. (Her diary's wet pages printed the sadnesses onto her body. Only a small fraction [55] were legible. The other 558 sadnesses are lost forever, and it is hoped that, without knowing what they are, no one will have to experience them.) The diary from which they came was never found.

SADNESSES OF THE BODY: Mirror sadness; Sadness of [looking] like or unlike one's parent; Sadness of not knowing if your [body is] normal; Sadness of knowing your body is not normal; Sadness of knowing your body is normal; Beauty Sadness; Sadness of m[ak]eup; Sadness of physical pain; Pins-and-[needles sadness]; Sadness of clothes [sic]; Sadness of the quavering eyelid; Sadness of a missing rib; Noticeable sad[ness]; Sadness of going unnoticed; The sadness of having genitals that are not like those of your lover; The sadness of having genitals that are like those of your lover; Sadness of hands….

SADNESSES OF THE COVENANT: Sadness of God's love; Sadness of God's back [sic]; Favorite-child sadness; Sadness of b[ein]g sad in front of one's God; Sadness of the opposite of belief [sic]; What if? sadness; Sadness of God alone in heaven; Sadness of a God who would need people to pray to Him….

SADNESSES OF THE INTELLECT: Sadness of being misunderstood [sic]; Humor sadness; Sadness of love wit[hou]t release; Sadne[ss of be]ing smart; Sadness of not knowing enough words to [express what you mean]; Sadness of having options; Sadness of wanting sadness; Sadness of confusion; Sadness of domes[tic]ated birds; Sadness of fini[shi]ng a book; Sadness of remembering; Sadness of forgetting; Anxiety sadness….

INTERPERSONAL SADNESSES: Sadness of being sad in front of one's parent; Sa[dn]ess of false love; Sadness of love [sic]; Friendship sadness; Sadness of a bad convers[at]ion; Sadness of the could-have-been; Secret sadness….

SADNESSES OF SEX AND ART: Sadness of arousal being an unordinary physical state; Sadness of feeling the need to create beautiful things; Sadness of the anus; Sadness of eye contact during fellatio and cunnilingus; Kissing sadness; Sadness of moving too quickly; Sadness of not mo[vi]ng; Nude model sadness; Sadness of portraiture; Sadness of Pinchas T's only notable paper, ''To the Dust; From Man You Came and to Man You Shall Return,'' in which he argued it would be possible, in theory, for life and art to be reversed…

We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing… We are writing…We are writing… We are writing…

Neuschwanstein

I want to build a castle. Just so someone can live in it and it is just a fairytale. A big, white fairytale.
I shall run away next year and hide in its turrets. Yes, that will be good. I'll go sleep in the turrets and work in the kitchen serving the big, fat kings their big, fat turkeys.

Wake Up- The Arcade Fire with David Bowie

This version gives me the chills in my bones.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

How is it that I can find an infinite number of things at night when my brain is screaming for sleep when during the sunny hours I die without a thing to do?
If we could choose our time for sleep I would change my hours.
I wish we were like cars that charge as they drive so we never needed sleep. We could merely sit in our garages and talk with our horns and headlights.
I want some magical cheat code like in the sims where you can create full health in a drag and be on your merry way.
This afternoon was nice. I put 5 books on hold at the library
read a lot of time travelers wife
ate 'day-old chick' lollies
slept
watched secret garden and a little princess trailers
put them on hold
found an unopened packet of glow in the dark stars
made a little universe with them and my posters
drank 4 cups of tea
napped
listened to sara try and remember her russian
and wrote
also i thought of gifts for people
i want to have money so i can buy them all for christman
i need to get older and i need this angus and robertson job.
and i want a disaster. think flood or fire. or a nice big wind storm.
its full moon. i can open my blinds now.
goodnight.

Imagine Peace Tower

In 2007 Yoko Ono unveiled the Imagine Peace Tower, a beam of light emanating from a wishing well monument on the coast of Videy Island. Created in memory of her husband, John Lennon, it bears the words "Imagine Peace" in 24 languages & is lit each year from Oct 9 - Dec 8.

Now you have a reason to come with me Kelly! It's so pretty.

Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Come with me Kelly?

Cure to my broken heart....I'm sorry.

A Forest. Nice nice song.

I'm a springsteen-er now.

So art is complete for the year and the lessons are as freeing as the feminist movement. We're spraying this and wiping that (spray and wipe reference untintended) and all is well. This means legalised iPods in class, not that they were illegal to begin with but it seems much more legal now. Anyway, today in Art, the lovely Rin introduced me to Bruce Springsteen. And let me tell you, he is an exquisite harmonica player.
Behold, his skills. This is Atlantic City. (i could only get his live version- he disabled his video clip. the recorded one is great. look it up)

This situation happens far too often for me.

“Mamihlapinatapei: from Yagan, the indigenous language of the Tierra del Fuego region of South America. This word has been translated in several ways in English, always implying a wordless yet meaningful look shared by two people who both desire to initiate something but are both reluctant to start.”

Fairy Tale

I'm so happy that this was my favourite childhood movie.

They're so human!

That is why they are my favorites.

Let's just add a bit of John for safety as well.
I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?
— John Lennon

E.E. Cummings

Remember, from Perks of Being a Wallflower? The poetry book. Yeah, well that girl was definitely onto something.

I like my body when it is with your
body. It is so quite new a thing.
Muscles better and nerves more.
I like your body. I like what it does,
I like its hows. I like to feel the spine
of your body and its bones, and the trembling
-firm-smooth ness and which I will
again and again and again
kiss, I like kissing this and that of you,
I like, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz
of your electric fur, and what-is-it comes
over parting flesh … . And eyes big love-crumbs,
and possibly I like the thrill
of under me you so quite new.
E.E. Cummings

I love love love love miranda july

If you are sad, ask yourself why you are sad. Then pick up the phone and call someone and tell him or her the answer to the question. If you don’t know anyone, call the operator and tell him or her. Most people don’t know that the operator has to listen, it is a law. Also, the postman is not allowed to go inside your house, but you can talk to him on public property for up to four minutes or until he wants to go, whichever comes first.
— No One Belongs Here More Than You, Miranda July
